Moirai

Moirai

“The Moirai were the goddesses of fate who personify the inescapable destiny of man. The individuals were Klotho, the “Spinner,” who spun the thread of life, Lakhesis, “the Apportioner of Lots,” who measured it, and Atropos, “She who cannot be turned,” who cut it short.” . . . Finalist in Timothy Hung's 2017 "Haunted Beauty" competition

Hogwarts Houses

Hogwarts Houses

Each of these characters represents the qualities of the Hogwarts Houses--Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. . . . Featured in an article by independent blog & news platform, News Macarons, October 2017

Octopus & Butterfly

Octopus & Butterfly

Inspired by an antique brooch named "Tintenfisch und Schmetterling," crafted in 1900. For this project I attempted to reach out of my comfort zone and create a more illusory image. The tentacles and large pearl were created from Crayola Model Magic then painted. All told, this may be one of my most complete transformations yet!

The Birth of Peach

The Birth of Peach

From a makeup/photography series inspired by singer Marina and the Diamonds's "FROOT" album. There are references to Boticelli's "The Birth of Venus" in the composition, but a bright, modern flair. I crafted the shirt from recycled Ipsy packaging.

Capricorn

Capricorn

This makeup was from a 2-part makeup/photography series in which I explored and designed personas of the 12 zodiac signs. This piece in particular emanates the assured gravity of a Capricorn's cold control.

Alien Bloom

Alien Bloom

As is the case with many of my works, "Alien Bloom" was inspired by the surreality of early spring and the contrast between hard, dead stems and vibrant, unfurling blooms.

About Me

I have been self-teaching makeup art for the past 3 years, but have been practicing creative makeup and photography since I was 13. I have a degree in art history which often influences the content and aura of my designs. I am always looking to learn and challenge myself so I'm eager to learn with the Institute of Makeup Artistry. My Instagram page, @brooquecreative, displays all of my makeup projects. My YouTube channel, brooque, showcases tutorials and process videos for my work, from simple beauty to extreme avant-garde.

My Work

Because my makeup practice began as an incredibly personal means of self expression, I have mostly used myself as a model for my more artistic pieces. With my own face I have all the time and convenience to explore and try new ideas, however impractical they may seem. I am currently looking to connect with photographers and models so that I can expand my body of work and bring my creations to a wider audience. Please contact me if you're interested in collaborating on a project.
